Text: 方言と共通語

1
中国は多民族国家で民族によって使用する言語が異なっているまた中国語も1つではなくかなりの数の方言が存在するそれぞれの方言は発音も文法も語彙も大きく違っている
ちゅうごく は たみんぞくこっか で みんぞく によって しようする げんご が ことなっ て いる また ちゅうごくご も ひとつ で は なく かなり の かず の ほうげん が そんざい する それぞれ の ほうげん は はつおん も ぶんぽう も ごい も おおきく ちがっ て いる
China is a multi-ethnic country, and the language used differs by ethnic group. Moreover, Chinese is not a single language either; a considerable number of dialects exist. Each dialect differs greatly in pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.
2
日本語においても発音文法語彙など地域による言葉の違いがある
にほんご において も はつおん ぶんぽう ごい など ちいき による ことば の ちがい が ある
In Japanese too, there are regional differences in language, in pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and so on.
3
まず発音やアクセントの違いがある例えばはしと言う言葉だ箸のはし橋のはしほかにも異なった意味があるがこの二つの意味で考えてみよう
まず はつおん や アクセント の ちがい が ある たとえば はし と いう ことば だ はし の はし はし の はし ほか に も ことなっ た いみ が ある が この ふたつ の いみ で かんがえ て みよ う
First, there are differences in pronunciation and pitch accent. Take the word hashi, for example. There is the hashi that means chopsticks and the hashi that means bridge. The word has other meanings as well, but let's consider just these two.
4
共通語東京方言では箸ははを高くしを低く言う橋ははを低くしを高くいう
きょうつうご ほうげん で は はし は は を たかく し を ひくく いう はし は は を ひくく し を たかく いう
In the standard language (the Tokyo dialect), chopsticks is said with ha high and shi low (1). Bridge is said with ha low and shi high (2).
5
はし高低はし低高
は し こうてい は し てい こう
(1) hashi (high-low) (2) hashi (low-high)
6
一方京都など関西地方では箸ははし橋のほうははしと発音するはしと言う言葉の意味は方言によって変わることになる
いっぽう きょうと など かんさい ちほう で は はし は はし はし の ほう は はし と はつおん する はし と いう ことば の いみ は ほうげん によって かわる こと に なる
In the Kansai region, such as Kyoto, on the other hand, chopsticks is pronounced as hashi with pattern (2), while bridge is pronounced as hashi with pattern (1). In other words, the meaning of hashi said with pattern (1) changes depending on the dialect.
7
Differences between dialects can even give rise to misunderstandings like these. In the Tohoku region, for example, there is the dialect word nageru. It means to throw something away, but there is a story of someone unfamiliar with the dialect who was told to nageru something, took it to mean throw, threw the trash back, and got scolded for it. The Kansai region, meanwhile, has the dialect word hokasu, which likewise means to throw away. There is also a story of someone who misheard it as hokan shite, meaning put it away for safekeeping, and carefully stored away things that were not needed.
8
現在ではラジオやテレビでは東京の方言を基本にした共通語が使われ地方の日常生活に共通語が浸透している
げんざい で は ラジオ や テレビ で は とうきょう の ほうげん を きほん に し た きょうつうご が つかわ れ ちほう の にちじょう せいかつ に きょうつうご が しんとう し て いる
Today, radio and television use a standard language based on the Tokyo dialect, and that standard language has worked its way into everyday life in the regions.
