Thanks to the reckless streak I inherited from my parents, I have done nothing but lose out ever since I was a child. Back in elementary school I once jumped from the second floor of the school building and could not stand up for about a week. Some may ask why I did anything so senseless. There was no deep reason. A relative once gave me a Western-made knife, and I was holding its beautiful blade up to the sunlight to show it off to my friends when one of them said that it certainly shone, but it didn't look as if it could cut anything. I insisted there was nothing it couldn't cut and promised to slice through whatever he liked. He then demanded that I cut my own finger, so I said a finger was nothing and slashed diagonally into the back of my right thumb. Luckily the knife was small and the thumb bone was hard, so my thumb is still attached to my hand today. The scar, however, will not fade as long as I live.
